The First Stage - Seed
The first stage in the plant life cycle is the seed. The seed holds everything needed to create a new plant. Seeds come in many shapes, sizes and colors.
The Second Stage - Germination
Even though different seeds end up being very different plants, they all need mostly the same things to be able to grow and mature into an adult plant. All seeds need to be on or in soil, they need water, sunlight and nutrients from the soil. In this stage, seed begins to grow. Watch it happen bellow!
The Third Stage - Stems and Roots
This is the stage when the parts of the plant are able to be seen above the soil. The shoots push up and out of the soil toward the sunlight. Roots grow down into the soil in search of water and nutrients. The roots hold the plant in place.
The Fourth Stage - Leaves
The plants leaves begin to unfold and take in sunlight. The leaves use this sunlight to make food through photosynthesis.
The Fifth Stage - Flowers and Fruit
Many plants make flower or fruit. These are very important in making seeds. As we know seeds create new plants!
The Sixth Stage - Pollination
Pollination is how the plant makes seed to reproduce itself. Without pollination we would not have new seeds, which means we would not be able to grow new plants!
